Choosing The Right Space For Your Yoga Business

There are a few considerations to be made in order to choose the right yoga space for your yoga business.

Firstly you want to choose a space in tranquil surroundings.  Or if the surroundings are not tranquil, a space that can be made tranquil.

The ambiance of the yoga class and yoga space and state is not helped with loud noise.  Preferably you want to avoid being close to noisy main roads, noisy workshops, places with loud music like bars and other noisy environments.

Fresh air also needs to be circulating in the yoga studio.  So windows need to be opened in the location of your choice.  There will be a clash of the sound environments if there is noise coming from an outside location.  Often it is not possible to turn the music up loud enough to drown out the noise, because otherwise when you are teaching, your voice won’t be heard.

It is a good idea before committing to that space and taking out a rental lease to see if you can test out the sound levels.  See if you can use the space for a few meditation sessions.  To get a good idea test the sound at different times of the week and day.  Some locations can be noisy in the morning but quiet at night and vice versa.

Speak to the previous tenants if sound tests can’t be done prior to contract agreements.  Previous tenants can often give a true indication of noise levels.

It is even better however if you can find a naturally quiet space close to nature.  It is much more harmonious to be practicing yoga in or near a natural environment.  The energy is much cleaner in natural environments as well as lower noise which is much more conducive to yoga practice.

If it fits in with the overall yoga business plan, spaces close to nature should be strongly considered.  The geographic location obviously also needs to be taken into account for your yoga business.

The Yoga Ashram – The Ongoing Relationship For A Yoga Teacher

As yoga teachers we all know what a yoga ashram is.  Many of us have probably even been or stayed on a yoga ashram.  In fact a lot of us may have completed our yoga teacher training course on an ashram.

However are we as yoga teachers still drawing from the well spring of the ashram?

Even after obtaining teacher training certification and up and running as a yoga teacher and running a yoga business the yoga ashram still has much to offer.

For yoga teachers burnt out from teaching the ashram is a place of retreat and a step back to self.  It is a common problem that yoga teachers have full schedules and have difficulty with finding enough time for themselves.  Yoga teachers are often burnt out running from session to session.

The ashram is a great place to take some time out and take stock and regain ones energies and focus on oneself and practice.

Taking it a step further, the yoga ashram is a great place to reinforce all that has been learnt.  A return to the ashram, means integrating previous teachings and acquiring higher levels of understanding and knowledge.

Naturally this means taking ones own practice to another level.  A chance to deepen your yoga practice.  The chance to reconnect with self and ones practice at a deeper level.

Ashrams offer further teacher trainings and courses too.  If there is something you have always wanted to learn in your yoga practice or something you are passionate about – go back for more training.

As a yoga teacher, keeping ones practice fresh and vital means integrating new knowledge.  Here is where the ashram comes in and helps.

Advanced asana and pranayama, yoga anatomy, restorative yoga, purification and meditation courses are courses that are often offered by ashrams.  Taking further trainings such as these courses is a way to keep your knowledge fresh and vital.

Returning to the ashram is a fantastic approach to enhance understanding and further ones own practice.  However the final result is that everyone benefits because the new trainings that you integrate into your own practice gets transmitted back to your students.  Its a win win situation.  You become a better teacher and your students receive better classes.

The Benefit Of Enhancing Your Yoga Anatomy For Yoga Teachers

Are you a yoga teacher and looking to enhance your yoga anatomy knowledge?  You may be wondering what are the benefits of enhancing your yoga anatomy knowledge.

Firstly as a yoga teacher if you enhance your knowledge of anatomy and physiology it will deepen your understanding and connection to the human body.  A yoga teacher will be able to integrate this information into their yoga teaching if this is learnt from a yogic perspective.

Integrating yoga anatomy and physiology knowledge into your yoga teaching will mean that you will be able to teach not only more content about each yogic asana but your knowledge basis will be deeper.  The good thing about this is that all of this integrated knowledge can then be transmitted to students in class who have the benefit of the increase in this knowledge.

Is there anything else to be obtained from the further study of yoga anatomy and physiology?  For starters, a deeper understanding of the alignment within each asana.

A lot of information on anatomy and physiology for yoga relates to the musculoskeletal system.  What this means is studying all the muscles and bones of the human body.  Where each muscle originates, where it attaches and what each muscles function is.

The understanding of asana alignment can be greatly enhanced by knowing the musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology.  And a big part of asana yoga is correct alignment.  All the benefits of the asana can be assimilated when there is correct alignment.  Big improvements can be made in ones yoga practice with only a small correct adjustment.

Yoga anatomy and physiology is taught within yoga teacher training courses, but often it is brief or in time the yoga teacher forgets this information.  A refresher course can come in useful here.  Or to reinforce ones yoga anatomy and physiology information there are many dvd’s and books created specifically for yoga teachers.

Overall, as a yoga teacher, increasing your knowledge base helps provide an enhanced class for your students.  An enhanced class experience for students leads to an increase in retention rates.  A better retention rate of students can only be a good thing for your yoga business.

Banishing Clutter To Aid The Success Of Your Yoga Business

There are many things you can do with the space in your yoga studio to increase the likelihood of success for your yoga business.

If it is your own yoga business and studio, obviously you can do a lot more as you are in control.  If it is not your own studio, then you will need to negotiate with whomever you either share the space with or from whom you are renting.

Hopefully you can come to agreements with those you share the space with to create a great space for all your classes.

It is key that the space in your yoga studio is clutter free.  Yogic and meditative states are not helped with clutter.  Cleanliness is also very important.  Dirty or smelly environments are not appreciated by yoga students.

If the space is not clutter free it makes it difficult for the energy to flow smoothly.  Clutter also weighs heavy on the people in the environment with the clutter.  It is as if every object creates an energetic connection with the person.  When there is an excess of things the space feels heavy and dense energetically.  This dense energetic state is not harmonious nor conducive to the yogic and meditative states.

Remove all unnecessary items to clutter clear the space.  Yoga environments only need the key essentials really.  Also the clearer the space, the more students can fit in the space which is better for your yoga business.

After the space has been clutter cleared ambience enhancing items such as incense and candles can be added.

The success of your yoga business will be aided by clutter clearing.  A great clean space is essential for your yoga business to keep your students enthusiastic and want to keep coming back for more classes.  Enthusiastic and returning repeat students can only be a good thing for your yoga business.
